The Best Mutual Fund Will Have Low Fees

Many investment pundits try to promote a number of mutual funds as the absolutely best mutual fund. Most people look to the overall increase in the unit prices of the mutual fund as a major criteria in choosing a fund. However, even if a particular mutual fund generates huge and consistent distributions and capital gains, these gains may be eroded if the fund has equally high fees.

The thing about mutual funds is that they tend to have hidden fees. The often don't charge you upfront. Rather they charge a percentage of your total asset base. They may even charge a percentage of your contributions. If the percentage is high, this can be a killer to your overall returns. Therefore, you must choose a mutual fund with the lowest fees possible.
